Activity: PC Configuration

This assignment is considered to be my favorite one so far in the course. The following activity requires you to recommend a personal computer (PC) or laptop to a particular business. There are two things to consider when deciding which one to use. The primary thing for this activity was to be able to run SAP Lumira given its minimum and recommended specifications. The other criteria was to be able to meet the workload of the type of company it belongs to. For my assignment, I chose a freelance small graphic design company that will need to utilize high powered components in order to compose top quality designs such as posters and flyers. The Lenovo laptop was recommended due to its portability and components suitable for this business.

Through the use of SAP Lumira, data can be represented visually in charts and graphs that makes the information easier to comprehend. As a result, decision making can be made and problems can be detected in a more efficient way. In this assignment, we looked at a bicycle company and explored various aspects of the software in order to answer questions regarding the business. These questions included customer revenue, bicycle quantity, yearly earnings and many others. This assignment was interesting and SAP Lumira a reliable tool for a company to use when they are curious to see how they fare on a monthly and yearly bases. Not only does it show revenue but it can also dig down deep into other factors such as most popular bikes by model which was answered in this particular assignment.

SAP ERP Exercise

This assignment was one of the first ones that we did using the SAP ERP software. At first, it was quite overwhelming with the amount of tabs and features. This software is quite powerful in that it can manipulate data of a company. Once a new record is added or updated, it will be there in real-time for the company to see. After completing this assignment, I’ve learned that the process of business transactions aren’t simple as they seem. In the background, companies are using software to track, verify and then confirm their sales and purchases from the date it was ordered to the when it was delivered.

Top 2 Assignments In IS 130

Throughout the semester in my IS 130 online class, I’ve been exposed to business related concepts that involves information technology. From software to principles, this course has taught me to not only think as a “techy” person but also as a businessman. In this online course, my favorite assignments included the PC Configuration activity and the Design: DSS with Microsoft Excel.

The PC Configuration activity involved picking the ideal laptop make/model that best suits the business’s needs while being able to run SAP Lumira efficiently. This assignment was considered to be the most fun out of all of the assignments given to us so far since I often look up computer parts online in my spare time. Being able to do something that I like to do as an assignment is always welcome and appreciated! It makes it much more enjoyable.

The second assignment revolves around the use of Microsoft Excel to implement a model that uses a business’s financial information to see trends, problems and solutions. A useful tool, Excel is a great tool to use for this particular assignment. By modifying certain parts of the model (payrolls, margin) we are able to determine the best course of action to increase the profits of the company. This assignment was interesting because of how we are given a business problem and have to use software to help solve it.
